WHAT TO DO: WINTER STORM OIL DELIVERY

Make Sure You Don’t Miss a Heating Oil Delivery During Winter Storms

Winter weather can make heating oil deliveries more difficult, especially when snow and ice block access to your home. To help ensure uninterrupted service during storms, we ask that you please clear snow and ice from the areas leading to and surrounding your oil fill pipe. The cleared space should be large enough for our delivery truck and driver to safely access the fill location.

In addition, please salt or sand your driveway and walkways to reduce slippery conditions. This helps our drivers complete your delivery safely and efficiently, and may also assist other utility providers or emergency responders who need access to your property during severe weather.

Don’t Forget Your Heating System Exhaust Vents

Heavy snowfall can also pose a serious safety risk if heating system exhaust vents become blocked. Vents located on the side of your home are especially vulnerable to snow buildup and drifting. When exhaust vents are obstructed, it can lead to system malfunctions or, in extreme cases, carbon monoxide backing up into the home.

Please take a moment after each storm to check that all exhaust vents are clear of snow, ice, and debris.

A Few Additional Winter Tips

  • Mark your fill pipe with a tall, visible marker so it’s easy to locate after snowfall

  • Keep pets indoors and gates unlocked on delivery days

  • Monitor fuel levels closely during extended cold spells

We appreciate your cooperation, patience, and partnership throughout the winter season.

These simple steps help keep deliveries on schedule, and help keep your home warm and safe when you need it most.
